Purpose:
NOSHIP aims to put pressure on New Orleans business leaders to end all aid to Israel.
Our demands:
- End all aid from New Orleans to Israel.
- Dissolve all economic and cultural ties between local government, business, universities, and other institutions in New Orleans, and Israel.
- Publicly retract all signatures from the Letter of Intent establishing the Innovation Embassy between the Port of New Orleans and the Port of Ashdod in Israel.
- Cut ties with New Orleans’ sister city in Israel, Rosh Ha’ayin.
- End all links between police forces operating in the Greater New Orleans region and the Israeli military. This includes joint training, intelligence sharing, use of Israeli surveillance technology, and other exchanges.
- Hold the Port of New Orleans and affiliated businesses accountable for the transfer, shipping, and trade of weapons and chemicals to the Israeli government.
We will do this by:
- Keeping a pulse on trade plans, routes, business partnerships, and all forms of economic exchange between New Orleans and Israel.
- Keep a pulse on the announcements, meetings, and events of New Orleans business leaders.
- Raise awareness on what imports are coming into and out of the ports.
- Raise awareness on economic and cultural exchanges between New Orleans and Israel that currently exist and those that may be forthcoming.
- Disrupting business as usual – planning marches and protests within board meetings for any company involved, industry events, openings, meetings w/ Israeli officials etc.
- Producing and providing leaflets and education on where our public resources and taxes are being focused.
- Boost and co-sign with other organizations doing Palestine work.
- Keeping in contact with trade unions (longshoreman’s union).
- Advocate for reform of the Port of New Orleans board, specifically advocating that board members be elected by the citizens of New Orleans and not appointed by the Governor.
